Privacy Policy

At LIT, we value your privacy. Any personal information we may collect about you will only be used to further our charitable mission. This Privacy Policy explains in more detail:

  • what information we may collect about you and how we collect it;
  • what we may do with that information; and
  • how we protect personal information about you.

Information We May collect
From You: We may obtain information directly from you in discussions about your charitable intentions or when you submit a document containing personal information, such as to apply for project funding through LIT.  Typically, this information includes your name, address, employment, and sometimes details about your family or financial condition. In addition, your transaction history with LIT is a type of personal information that we record.
From Others: In the course of providing services, we may acquire information about you from other individuals or organizations that know you or have information about you. For example, we obtain references, possibly credit reports and other information from third parties about applicants to assist us in making funding decisions.
From Our Website: When you visit our website (www.LifeseedTrust.org), you may voluntarily register to receive updates.  We track aggregate data on website users’ browser, operating platform, pages accessed, and time spent; but we do not record this information for individual users. This aggregate data is used to improve our website based on usage patterns.
What We Do With Personal Information
We use personal information to develop, offer and deliver services to you and to communicate with you. On occasion, we may forward to you materials supplied by unaffiliated third parties, if we find those materials consistent with our mission. However, we will never sell any list of donors or other clients.
We may share personal information as follows:

  • We share information among our affiliates. This Privacy Policy applies to all of our affiliates.
  • We may share personal information with unaffiliated third parties when necessary to provide services or otherwise carry out our mission, but we generally do so only where the third party has a duty to maintain the confidentiality of the information. Examples include communications with attorneys or other advisors. Donors who request that their donations be used to support one of our fiscally sponsored projects may be identified to the project organizer unless the donor requests anonymity.
  • We publicize the names and sometimes descriptions of grant recipients and sponsored projects.
  • We will share information with others when legally required to do so, such as to comply with tax laws or court orders, or when necessary to enforce or protect our legal rights.

How We Protect Personal Information
We have adopted a variety of physical, electronic and procedural safeguards designed to protect the security and integrity of personal information. For example, every employee of LIT is covered by a confidentiality policy. Where feasible, we restrict access to personal client information to those employees who need the information to perform their functions. In addition, volunteers and other individuals who have access to personal client information are asked to sign confidentiality agreements.
We will honor requests to be removed from our mailing list. If you do not wish to receive general materials we distribute periodically, please send your request to contact@LifeseedTrust.org.
